This talk will present a brief history of the thinking and actions of the Catholic Church during the above-mentioned period. It will show how the Church turned from Empire/Establishment to Home Rule/Republicans and what caused this to occur. It will also cover the effects that Church attitudes had on many of the allied countries, e.g. the USA, Australia, France and the Vatican. It will also give an overview of the then church leaders and their continuing effect on our world today.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
William Bryant is a keen member of the Cork branch, having a particular
interest in the American Army in WW1. He discovered an interest in the WFA when the branch helped him with information on his grandfather and his four brothers, all who served (and survived) WW1.
